LanguageTool works with LibreOffice and OpenOffice, but there are some limitations, especially when using Premium or comparing results with the web version. This article highlights key differences and known issues.
Known limitations
LanguageTool doesn't work correctly with documents that contain revisions (LibreOffice #36540, OO #92013)
Using LanguageTool Premium with LibreOffice/OpenOffice.org
Our LibreOffice/OpenOffice.org add-on currently doesn't support the premium version of LanguageTool. Starting with LibreOffice 7.4, LibreOffice comes with a feature to use a remote LanguageTool server. This also works with the Premium version of LanguageTool. Different results between LibreOffice and languagetool.org
If you see different results locally and on languagetool.org, that's for one of these reasons:
We run the latest version on languagetool.org which might have different rules than the latest release version.
For English, German, French, Spanish, Dutch: We have some additional rules on languagetool.org that require large data sets not part of the download version (technical details).
